Passage of RTI will ensure sustenance of peace – Sheikh Sharubutu

Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam, on Thursday reiterated the call for the passage of the Right to Information (RTI) Bill currently before Parliament.

He pointed out that, passage of the Bill would not only bring confidence in the management and administration of public funds and property but ensure the sustainability of peace, since people would develop hope and confidence in the authorities and public office holders.

Sheikh Sharubutu made the call at a Press Conference on RTI in Accra.

“I pledge my support for the passage of RTI because Islam believes in transparency, accountability and probity.”

Sheikh Sharubutu who is also the Founder and Chairman of Islamic Peace And Security Council of Ghana (IPASEC), stressed the need to put in place mechanisms to ensure the sustenance of peace and security in the country.

The National Chief Imam’s speech was read by Alhaji Khuzaima Mohammed Oman, Personal Assistant to the National Chief Imam and Executive Secretary of IPASEC.**
