Party Organiser predicts victory

Wenchi (B/A), Oct. 13, GNA – Mr Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Wenchi Constituency Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the Parliamentary candidate-elect for the area, Professor George Gyan-Baffour would win the seat in Election 2004.

This, Mr Saarah-Mensah said was possible because the electorate in the area had known Prof. Gyan-Baffour as a good material, who could lead them in their development programmes.

He told the Ghana News Agency at Wenchi on Wednesday that for the first time in the history of Wenchi party politics, all the family members of Wenchi-Yefri where a number of past politicians had emerged had now come together to rally behind one candidate The Youth Organiser said until recently sections of the Wenchi-Yefri had grouped into factions during political events and supported parties of their individual interests even though they belonged to one family.

Mr Saarah-Mensah mentioned the Yefri families as Safoase-Yefri; Ahenfie-Yefri and Nkwaduano-Yefri all in the Wenchi Township He, therefore, commended the people of the Yefri family for coming together at last to rally behind their own son, brother, father and member of the family to achieve a great fame for them.

Mr Saarah-Mensah said he was sure that Prof Gyan-Mensah would gain more than 30,000 votes out of the registered voter population of about 45,000, come the December Elections.

He said arrangements were afoot for the Executive Members of the Party in the Constituency to visit all the zonal centres to canvass for more votes for Professor Gyan-Baffour.

He called on the NPP youth of the area to comport themselves against bad practices that could affect the polls in the constituency in order that everything about the elections would be peaceful and successful.

“Prof. Gyan-Baffour has been introduced formally to us, all NPP members in Wenchi should bury their differences and offer support for him to ensure victory in the Constituency,” Mr Saarah-Mensah said. Meanwhile, the Constituency Executives have visited all the communities in the area and introduced their Parliamentary Candidate to the traditional rulers and community leaders and appealed to them to vote for him during the elections.
