Akwatia (E/R), Nov. 22, GNA – The Akwatia District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Ben Ofe (ed correct), has called on political parties to conduct their electioneering campaign with regard to the Public Order Act to avoid creating undue tension in the area. Speaking at a meeting with political party representatives at Akwatia on Saturday, Mr Ofe called on them to exhibit tolerance and use decent campaign devoid of insults and mudslinging.
He took them through the Public Order Act, especially the provisions dealing with use of public places, and stressed the need for party supporters to comport themselves at rallies or risk the arrest of the leadership should there be any unrest.
Mr Ofe advised the keep-fit-clubs of the parties to conduct their activities within the confines of the law or face prosecution. The parties were asked to ensure that no unlicensed motor vehicles were used during their campaigns and also guard against careless driving or riding and speeding.
