Parliament’s appointment committee will start vetting President Mahama’s new appointees in February.
Members of the Committee took the decision after series of meetings. Already, the public is being served with notices to submit petitions over the appointees to assist in their work.
The participation of the minority MPs on the committee is also being questioned as some National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs wonder if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs would sit when the vetting gets underway after boycotting the inauguration of President Mahama.
A member of the Appointments Committee of parliament, Hon Samson Ahi told XYZ News that the committee is planning feverishly to have a successful sitting.
“What we are doing is just the normal processes that we go through before we start vetting the president’s nominees. Normally it takes two weeks to advertise it in the dailies; and [we will] ask the public who have anything against the nominees.”
Hon. Ahi said he is hopeful that the Committee will work devoid of partisan considerations.
