Accra, Aug 9, GNA – A nine-member parliamentary delegation led by Mr Kwabena Adusei-Okechrie Poku, MP for Nkwakwa and Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, returned to Accra on Friday from China.
The nine-day visit, which was at the invitation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Peoples Congress of the Peoples Democratic Republic of China, was to strengthen relation between the parliaments of the two countries.
Speaking to newsmen the leader of the delegation, who is also the first Deputy Majority Chief Whip, said the MPs were especially impressed with China’s processing and packaging of food and waste management. He said they held discussions with the Chinese Foreign Affairs Committee on possibility of sending a team from China to impart knowledge on processing and packaging in Ghana.
They also looked into the prospects of setting up a waste disposal plant in Ghana based on a model in the Chinese province of Shangai. Mr Jones Kugblenu, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of Parliament met the delegation on arrival.
