Parliamentary Candidate pledges development council

Aprade (Ash), Aug. 12, GNA- Mr George Abofa, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Oforikrom Constituency in Kumasi for Election 2004, has pledged to set up a development council in the constituency if elected, to facilitate development.

The council, he said, would comprise Opinion Leaders, Pastors, Imams and leaders of youth associations in the area. Mr Abofa was inaugurating the executive committee of the Aprade branch of the NDC at Aprade on Thursday.

The nine-member executive has Mr Paul Yaw Amoah as the chairman. Mr Abofa said the Council would meet regularly and identify development problems in the various communities and collectively map out workable solutions to them.

He said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government had lost its focus and called on the electorate to vote it out in the December polls.
