Parliamentarians express displeasure about media reports

Some Parliamentarians have expressed grave concern about reports in sections of the Ghanaian media and asked that the press be called to order.

The Speaker, Mr Peter Ala Adjetey lent support to the leadership of the House to deal with Press reporting that according to the Parliamentarians, tended to bring the legislature into disrepute.

He said according to the standing orders misreporting the proceedings, which were considered as affront to the House, should legally be referred to the privileges community for redress.

Mr Ala Adjetey made the observation following a compliant Mr Kosi Kedem NDC’s MP for Hohoe South, raised about false publications two Accra-based newspapers made against the House.

Mr Kedem said a Daily Guide of November 23 attributed a false publication to Mr J. H. Mensah, Senior Minster and Chairman of Government Economic Team.

Mr Kedem said the Independent of the same day also wrote scandalously against him (Kosi Kedem).

The Speaker endorsed the Majority Leader, Papa Owusu Ankomah’s submission that the matter would be handled by the leadership of the House and reported back in a week.
