Parliament Vets SC Judges On Tuesday

The Appointments Committee of Parliament is to resume sitting from next Tuesday to consider the President’s nominations for appointment as justices of the Supreme Court.

The sittings, which will last three days and which are open to the press and the general public, will be held at the chamber of Parliament, Parliament House, Accra at 10 a.m. each day. A press release issued from the Office of Parliament named the nominees as Mr Justice Stephen Allan Brobbey, Mr Justice Glenn Baddoo and Mrs Justice Georgina T. Wood, all justices of the Court of Appeal. The rest are Prof Samuel K. Date-Bah, Special Advisor (Legal) of the Commonwealth Secretariat and Dr Seth Twum, a private legal practitioner.

The release said the committee will also on Thursday, September 25 consider the President’s nomination of Mr Joshua Mangnus Nicol, a chartered management accountant, for appointment as the Administration of the District Assemblies Common Fund. It advised members of the general public, who wish to observe proceedings at the hearing to be seated not later than 10 a.m.
