Parliament to sit on Mondays to meet requirement

Accra, Oct 15, GNA – Parliament will be sitting on three Mondays in addition to its normal sittings days (Tuesday to Friday) to enable the Public Elections (Presidential and Parliamentary Election Date) Instrument, 2004 C.I. 48 meet the 21-day sitting requirement.

Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, the Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, announced this when he presented the Business Statement for the third week, ending Friday October 22, 2004. The instrument was laid before the House on Thursday, October 7, 2004.

Mr Owusu-Adjapong said the Minister of Works and Housing, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports and Minister of Roads and Transport would appear before the House to answer questions from members. The House would also take a number of bills such as the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa Bill, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration Bill and Civil Aviation Bill through their first stages.
