Parliament commiserates with widow of President Mills

The Leadership of Parliament on Friday led a delegation to the Regimanuel-Gray Estate residence of the late President John Atta Mills, to commiserate with his widow, Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills.

The delegation took turns to greet the former first-lady after which both leaders of the House signed a book of condolence.

Majority leader, Cletus Avoka said the news of the President’s death shocked Parliament, especially when the House had been notified in the morning of the intention of Prof. Mills to travel to Nigeria on that same day, and prayed that God gave Mrs. Mills the fortitude to endure “this trying period”.

Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Minority leader also asked for God’s guidance as the President’s widow went through the ordeal of mourning her husband.

The late president’s residence was besieged by sympathizers from all sections of the society, including ministers and foreign dignitaries.

African Union Chairman and President of Benin, Thomas Yayi Boni, was also there to empathize with the late President Mills’ family.**
