Parents urged to take active roles in the education of their children

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of First Capital Plus Bank, Mr. John Kofi Mensah, has appealed to parents to visit their children at school to interact with the teachers and to keep their children on their toes.

“They should perceive teachers as key allies, take feedback about their children in good faith and work together with the teachers to improve their children’s performances”, he said.

Mr Mensah said this when he spoke at the 50th Anniversary celebration of Breman Asikuma Senior High as the guest speaker.

The CEO, an old boy of the school, said since the establishment of the school with only 60 students, it now has 1,500 and commended the authorities and teachers of the school, present and past for the important roles they play in shaping the moral values of the students.

Mr. Mensah said Breman Asikuma SHS was a good example of government/ community collaboration in bringing education to the less developed parts of the country.

He said the government might want to consider further special packages to traditional rulers and communities who initiate SHS for instance the provision of water, electricity, roads and other social Infrastructures.

Mr. Mensah appealed to teachers to be more conscious of the educational needs of the students since not all students have the same intellectual capacity or interest.
