Accra, July 6, GNA – The Most Respected Lady Sister Victoria Yellu, the Grand Lady of Marshall of the Catholic Church, has reiterated the need for parents to make their girl child education a priority since it was the most valuable gift they could give their wards in life. “I will like to challenge parents to be much concern about the education and the social wellbeing of their children especially the girl child,” she said.
Most Respected Lady Sister Yellu was speaking at the launch of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the Noble Order of the Ladies of Marshall a society in the Catholic Church in Accra that is into charity service.
She said education is one of the major tools that promote development of a child’s intellectual, mental formation as well as the behavioural pattern.
The anniversary with the theme “Ladies of Marshall, Renewing Our Encounter with the Lord” sought to encourage members of the society to be vibrant and adhere to the tenets of the Noble Order, which urge members to reach-out to the distress in the community and also promote Catholic action and charity.
“On this occasion of 40th anniversary of the society, we implore sisters and brother from all courts and council both local and international to reflect on the selfless sacrifice made by founders of the Noble Order and also make a make. “Let us also emulate the example of the purity off the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Patron Saint of Marshall to sustain the good work of the Noble Order,” Sister Yellu said.
She said the society over the years had embarked on various charities, humanitarian and medical outreach programme to help the less privilege in the society. 6 July 09
