Parents threaten to withdraw children from school

Kumasi, May 28, GNA- Some parents have threatened to withdraw their children from the Bantama Presbyterian Junior Secondary School (JSS) if nothing was done about the activities of drug addicts who have turned the school into a den.

Mrs Betty Asare, Headmistress of the School who said this added that the drug addicts also defecate in the classrooms and steal textbooks and desks from the school.

Speaking at the First Speech and prize-giving day and graduation ceremony of the School in Kumasi on Thursday, Mrs Asare said sometimes these drug addicts openly smoke Indian hemp openly on the school premises to the full glare of the pupils thereby hampering academic work at the school.

She said even though police carried out an operation at the school recently, the drug addicts have resurfaced.

The headmistress therefore, appealed to the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana to fence the school as a matter of urgency to ward-off these anti-social elements.

Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia V, Bantamahene, who spoke at the function advised the students to learn very hard to justify the investment being made on them by their parents.
