Parents must meet the educational needs of their children to develop their interest for school – Education Director

The Dormaa Central Municipal Director of Education, Rev. Father Kingsley Dwamena Asante, has stated that parents play a pivotal role in ensuring the educational success of their children. He emphasized that parents must be responsible and ensure the provision of all necessary educational materials for their children to develop a strong interest in school, especially during their youthful years.

The Education Director emphasized that the government, parents, and teachers each bear a responsibility in facilitating effective teaching and learning. Thus, it falls upon parents to supply their children with essentials such as food, school uniforms, bags, textbooks, exercise books, and other fundamental items required for an enhanced educational experience. He underscored that while the government has been fulfilling its obligations, its efforts alone are insufficient to meet all the children’s needs emphasizing the need for parental support to secure a brighter future for their children.

Rev. Fr. Kingsley Dwamena Asante emphasized that teachers have an important role to play in molding school children for a better future. He stated that absentee teachers are heavily punished to ensure they arrive at school on time.

However, he stressed that while teachers can be forced to be present at school, they cannot be compelled to deliver effectively in the classroom. Therefore, there are various performance assessment methods in place to ensure that well-performing teachers are recognized and appraised, to motivate others to work tirelessly to facilitate educational excellence.
