Ajumako (C/R), March 7, GNA – The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly has appealed to chiefs to assist the Department of Social Welfare and the district assembly to identify people who fail to send their children to school. This would enable the assembly to educate such parents on the importance of education. The Coordinating Director, Mr K. Kussachin, said this at a parade of school children, civil societies, and voluntarily organisations to mark Ghana’s 52nd independence anniversary at Ajumako. He said the government and the district assembly were doing their best to make sure that quality education is made accessible children in the area.
Mr Kussachin said the major enemy in the district was poverty and added “we must join forces to fight this enemy instead of fighting among ourselves as is happening currently in some parts of the country.” Ajumako Catholic Primary was adjudged the best in the boys category with 232 points followed by Ajumako GESDI with 205 points and Ajumako Methodist was third with 174 points. In the Girls division Ajumako Catholic placed first with 216 points, Prince of Peace Primary was second with 205 points and Ajumako GESDI was third with 204 points. The Member of Parliament for the Area, Mr Ato Forson, presented 144 mathematical sets to seven junior high schools in Ajumako Circuit.
