Parents asked to provide children with balanced diet

Ahomahomasu(E/R), Mar. 20, GNA – The Fanteakwa District Nutrition Officer of the Ghana Health Service, Mr Simon Dagbie, has asked parents to give balanced diets to their children to ensure good health and proper growth.

He made the call when addressing parents as part of an outreach programme organised by the Asrebuso Sub-District Health Management Team at Ahomahomasu on Friday, to educate the people proper nutrition and good sanitation.

He asked nursing mothers to attach prominence to breast-feeding of their babies and embrace the National Polio Immunisation Programmes. Mr Dagbie asked husbands to co-operate with their wives to adopt family planning policies to control births.

He asked local unions formed on funerals to transfer their vision into contributing to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and asked them to protect themselves against the HIV/AIDS disease.

The Asrebuso Sub-District Health Management Team Officer, Miss Millicent Yirenkyi, said dog and snake bite cases in the area reduced from six in 2002 to three last year, malaria reduced from 590 to 540 while chicken pox increased from eight to eleven.
