Berekum (B/A) Sept. 15, GNA – Mr. Foster Kwadjor Agyei-Korang, a religious student of the University of Ghana, Legon on Wednesday advised parents to focus attention on their children’s education rather than sending them abroad to seek wealth.
Addressing members of Berekum District Circuit branch of Freeman Methodist Women Fellowship at Berekum, he explained that education entailed moral ethics, which was essential for success and development in life.
Mr. Agyei-Korang, also Director of School of Creativity in Accra cautioned parents who undermined their children’s education by providing them with unnecessary facilities, adding such irresponsible parents would never escape condemnation, ridicule and criticism from the public. He explained that the country is blessed with youth with high academic potentials to be exploited to accelerate national development but expressed regret that, “these youth are rather encouraged to travel abroad to look for white collar jobs for dollars.”
Mr. Agyei-Korang reiterated the need for parents to instill in their children the spirit of God so they would eschew negative practices that would not help in their development.
Mrs. Leticia Agyei, President of the Fellowship, noted the communities in the district lacked adequate educational infrastructure, saying this had impacted negatively on education in the area. She appealed to corporate bodies in the area to assist to improve the situation.
