Paramount Chiefs in Western Region sign treaty to unite

Takoradi, August 15, GNA- All the 22 Paramount Chiefs in the Western Region on Saturday signed a treaty to unite and foster peace among themselves.

The treaty was witnessed by Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, the Regional Minister and Papa Owusu Ankomah, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

A ram was slaughtered and rites performed to signify the signing of the treaty at a colourful durbar of Chiefs and people, in the region in Takoradi.

The durbar was attended by President John Agyekum Kufuor to climax activities marking the first ever Western Region Homecoming Summit. The weeklong summit dubbed “W/R Nkabom Afahye 2004” was under the theme “Education – Key to Development”.

The summit to be organised annually was aimed at forging a sense of unity and purposefulness in development for the region.
