Paramount chief appeals for new bridge over River Abu

Tepa(Ash), Nov. 18, GNA – Nana Adusei Atwenewaah Ampem, Paramount chief of Tepa traditional area, has appealed to the Ministry of Road Transport to construct a new bridge over River Abu on the 45-kilometre Tepa-Mankranso road.

He said the bridge over the river constructed many years ago, was too narrow and posed a danger to vehicles and passengers. Nana Atwenewaah Ampem made the appeal at a meeting with Engineers of P&W Ghanem, contractors working on the rehabilitation of the road. He said because of the mining activities at Kenyasi in the Asutifi district, the road had become one of the busiest in the Ashanti region. Nana Atwenewaah Ampem said about a month ago, a taxi plunged into the river killing one passenger and injuring four others, adding; “a new bridge should be built on the river to forestall more of such accidents.”
