Mpraeso, Jan. 5, GNA – A 31 year-old palm-wine taper, Mr Kwabena Ampadu, was on Monday found dead near his house at Aboam, a village in the Kwahu South District.
The body, which was found in a pool of blood from a deep cut in his throat, had been deposited at the mortuary of the Agyakwa Hospital, a private facility at Nkawkaw, for autopsy.
According to the Mpraeso District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ben Wonkyi, on January 3, this year, when the Police had information about the murder, some personnel were dispatched to the village.
According to District Police Commander, they found the body about eight metres away from the house of the deceased.
He said it was detected that the deceased was apparently murdered while sitting on a rock behind his house smoking in the night. ASP Wonkyi said preliminary investigations indicated that the deceased had been experiencing regular theft of his palm-wine and the destruction of the pots containing the drink.
He said the deceased suspected some Fulani herdsmen at the village who picked a quarrel with him some days earlier and therefore was not in good terms with them.
ASP Wonkyi said the Police suspect the herdsmen but no arrest had been made, adding that, investigations had been intensified to arrest the culprits.
