Palestine praises Ghana for support

Accra, Nov. 13, GNA – The Embassy of the State of Palestine has praised Ghana for its continuous support towards the fight for the legitimate national rights of the people of Palestine.

The message comes in the wake of the 15th anniversary of the declaration of independence for Palestine by the late Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) founder, Yasser Arafat.

In a statement issued by the embassy on Friday, it said the declaration of independence embodied the willpower and determination of the Palestinian people to establish their political system in agreement with the principles of democracy, human rights and peaceful co-existence in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

“The declaration succeeded in contributing to the creation of great historic opportunities that aided in stopping the bloodshed, pain and torment perpetrated on the land of the cradle of humanity’s three monotheistic faiths, Palestine.”

The statement appealed to the international community to continuously press Israel to stop the building of settlements which would serve as a major requirement for continuous peace talks. The statement praised the PLO for its positive and effective spirit during a series of negotiations on its demands since its declaration of independence.
