Painter defiles girl who died later in hospital

Kumasi, Oct 27, GNA- Kwadwo Kyei, a 24-year-old painter who allegedly defiled a nine-year primary school girl who later died in hospital wass on Monday remanded in police custody by Kumasi circuit court.

Kyei pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on October 30. The prosecution told the court that on October four, the deceased who stayed with her parents at Deduako went out to play.

The prosecution said the accused who was standing nearby, called her and sent her to buy fried fish from a nearby house for him. On her return, the suspect took her to his house and forcibly had sex with her. The girl bled profusely in the course of the act but failed to inform her parents until she was taken ill. The prosecution said the victim was admitted and examined as having been defiled.

Upon interrogation by the Doctors and her parents, the deceased mentioned the suspect as the one who defiled her. She however died on October 24 at the hospital.
