Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, a leading member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has categorically denied media reports that he has resigned from the CPP. Reacting to a news report titled ”PAA KWESI NDUOM QUITS” carried by the The Evening News last week, Dr Nduom emphasized that he was still a member of the CPP.
Dr Nduom was speaking in a telephone conversation with Mr Mike Eghan 3rd Vice Chairman of the CPP last Tuesday. Mike Eghan who spoke to the Crusading Guide newspaper on behalf of Dr Nduom said even though Dr Nduom had been worried about how certain persons in the CPP, both home and abroad have persistently maligned him publicly and privately, he will not call it quits without first giving the Party Leadership the opportunity to sort things out.
He said Dr Nduom recalled that he had on numerous occasions called the attention of some top members of the CPP Leadership to those negative tendencies but no positive steps have been taken. ”Yes, Dr Nduom concedes that those negative tendencies have occasionally moved him to think about his continued membership of the CPP on one hand, and his future political career on the other hand, but he is yet to take a final decision, a decision he said would not be taken personally since he has colleagues in the CPP he would discuss the issue with before arriving at a finality”, Mr Eghan said.
Dr Nduom and Freddie Blay, two leading members of the CPP have come under attack from sections of the CPP for their perceived support for the ruing NPP and commitment to the need for an electoral collaboration with the NPP towards Elections 2004.
