When work on the multi-million dollar expansion project at the 37th Military Hospital is completed in September this year, the craze of government officials seeking medical care in expensive hospitals outside the country is expected to abate.
This is because the hospital, which will be equipped with modern and sophisticated gadgets, as pertains in overseas hospitals will cater for their needs.
Col. Dr. Aryittey, the Commandant of the hospital, who briefed members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior under the chairmanship of the member for Okaikwei North, Joseph Darko-Mensah, said apart from minor renovation work carried out in 1990, no serious attention was given to the hospital.
He said plans are also ripe to establish a national emergency centre, nurses training college complex and staff of the hospital, which treats over 30,000 patients monthly.
