Overlord of Salaga, Nyanchuroebore II is Dead

The overlord of Kpembe Traditional Area in the Northern region Kpembewura Alhaji Abubakari Sulemana Nyanchuroebore (II) has died Ultimate News has gathered.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Gonjaland Youth Association Mahama Haruna who confirmed to Ultimate News said the king was over 90yrs and died battling old age related sickness.

The King was instrumental in ensuring cease fire in the recent disturbances at Kafabar and the Kalampor communities over a longstanding chieftaincy dispute.

According to the PRO of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Mahama Haruna, Gonjaland is so saddened with the passing of the Kpembewura.

He said Kpembe is a very important town in Gonja because it is the traditional Headquarters of eastern Gonja and is a very important town in terms of upholding the tradition and culture of the Gonja Kingdom.

He explained that the Kpembe division of Gonja is unique in terms of succession from the other division because it has three gates, which include: Singbung, Lepo and Kanyase with the head Chief of the gates as, Singbunwura, Kanakulaiwura (Head of the Lepo gate) and Kanyasewura.

The gates rotate one after the other and the head of every gate occupies the paramount skin when it is the gates turn.

The late Kpembewura is from the Kanyase gate. It is now the turn of the Singbung gate to succeed.

The Chief is expected to be buried late Tuesday night in line with the Gonja and kpembe tradition.
