Over Gh¢ 5,000 was realised from the congregation of the 2012 Harvest Praise Show in support of the Easter Orphan Project being organised by Ghana’s leading radio station, Citi FM.
The headline artiste, Bob Fitts and his wife Kathy, also made a donation of US$ 500 to the project that is aimed at bringing smiles on the faces of deprived children across the country. This year, Citi FM has a target to build a skills and training centre which is estimated to cost about Gh¢ 100,000.
Selected orphanages – the Mama Lardi Foster Home (Bolgatanga), Jehovah Rapha Orphanage (Suhum), Handivangelism Home (Haatso), BASCO (Suhum) – and the Chosen Drug Rehab Centre (Abofu, Accra) will be the beneficiaries.
Harvest Praise is an annual show organised by Harvest International Ministries. The 2012 edition is the 14th and has attracted international acts like Benjamin Dube from South Africa. Artistes who performed include Harvest theatre, Ceecy Twum, Ernest Opoku, Harvest Chapel Choir, and Bob Fitts.
The event saw hundreds of Christians gathered under the umbrella of oneness in worshiping the Lord on Good Friday.
The President of Harvest International Ministries, Rev Fitzgerald Odonkor talked about looking to Jesus to live. He asked the congregation to look at the day as the best Friday because of its significance.
He said for too long people had lived under the veil that Good Friday was a bad day because Christ died.
