Over 410 youth benefit from Youth Employment Programme

Nyinahin (Ash), Jan 19, GNA=96 Over 410 youth in the Atwima-Mponua District have gained employment under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) in education, health and sanitation sectors. Out of the number, 327 have been engaged as community teaching assistants, 60 as auxiliary nurses and 25 were into sanitation management.

Mr Collins Addai, the District Co-ordinator of NYEP, told the Ghana News Agency at Nyinahin in the district, that 350 youth would also be employed, under the Youth in Agriculture programme, to promote agriculture in the area.

He appealed to chiefs and landowners to release land to the youth so that the programme could achieve its desired goals. Mr Addai also urged head teachers to cooperate with the teaching assistants to enable them work assiduously to uplift the standard of education in the area.
