Outstanding Pupils Rewarded

Bolgatanga, Oct. 10, GNA – Miss Linda Biopobil Tiwol of Kulpelga Junior Secondary School and Master James Brown Adireh, a class five pupil of Awogya Primary School in the Upper East Region received cash prizes of 600,000 cedis and a carton of Milo each for coming the firsts and second at the just ended Milo Marathon held in Accra

Mr. Alexis Averu, Bolgatanga Municipal Education Service Physical education Organiser who disclosed this to the GNA Sports said four other pupils, Master Kaba Nabarese of Awe Junior Secondary School who was third had 400,000 cedis and a carton of Milo while Miss Juliet Aduku of Zaare Experimental and Atindanbire of Adakura Primary, all in Bolgatanga, came sixth, seventh and 10th respectively.

He said the performance of the young athletes was very promising and noted that with sponsorship they could reach the top. He commended the athletes for their commitment and devotion and for projecting the Upper East Region through sports.

He lamented on the lack of sponsorship for sporting activities and appealed to district assemblies and non -governmental organization (NGO) to assist in financing sporting activities in the region.
