Our men are being killed – Forestry Commission boss

The Central Regional Director of the Forestry Commission Mr. Ebenezer Dagbletey has alleged that staff of the commission are being killed as they embark on their legitimate duties.

The staff according to him, continue to suffer mob attacks including lynching and shooting in some communities by chain saw operators who feel threatened by the work of the commission in protecting the forest reserve.

Speaking in an interview with Starr News’ Central regional Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour, Mr. Dagbletey indicated that the continuous attack on their staff has left the commission with few men to work with as majority of the officers fear to step out to respond to duties.

The attackers, he added use sophisticated gadgets to track the officers of the commission in the forest making them easy prey for attack.

Mr. Dagbletey said government must step in to equip them so they can withstand the challenges that face them in the forest.
