Otumfuo urges Church to assist in fight against corruption

Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged the church to remain relentless in the fight to purge the country of corrupt practices, social exclusion and other injustices.

He said the church should work with zeal and passion to help build the society on strong moral values and ethics.

The Asantehene said this when he received a joint delegation of the Presbyterian and Methodist Churches to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

He saluted them for their immense role to overcome poverty and transform society.

He also lauded the church for its human-centred ministry, which he said, had touched lives particularly, of those in deprived communities, citing the building of schools and health facilities as major developments from the church.

The delegation was at the Palace to introduce recently inducted leaders, the Reverend Amfo Akonnor, Asante Presbytery Chairman of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, and Mr Kwasi Atta-Antwi, Kumasi Diocesan Lay Chairman of the Methodist Church, to the King.

The Asantehene also asked the leadership of the church to focus on strengthening their internal structures to consolidate the gains they have made over the years.

Right Reverend Professor Osei Safo-Kantanka, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, pledged to deepen the church’s relationship with Manhyia to promote development.
