Otumfuo Promises to Attend Sarkodie’s First Rapperholic in Kumasi

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has declared his intention to attend Sarkodie’s upcoming Rapperholic Concert in Kumasi, marking a historic moment for both the celebrated rapper and the annual music event.

The announcement was made during a courtesy call at the Manhyia Palace on July 18, 2025, where Sarkodie formally introduced the King to his plans to host Rapperholic in Kumasi for the first time in its 12-year run.

Set for September 27 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, this year’s edition of Rapperholic will be the first outside Accra, signaling a major shift in the concert’s tradition and offering fans in the Ashanti Region a long-awaited chance to experience the acclaimed live show.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II praised Sarkodie for his unwavering commitment to his craft and the humility he continues to display despite his success.

“I feel it will not be wrong if I’m there myself this year to also enjoy the show,” the King said, acknowledging the significance of the rapper’s decision to bring the concert to Kumasi.

The royal endorsement adds a new layer of prestige to the Rapperholic brand, which has grown into one of the most anticipated music events on Ghana’s entertainment calendar.

Sarkodie, born Michael Owusu Addo, expressed his appreciation for the warm reception at the Palace and noted that bringing the event to Kumasi is a tribute to his fans in the Ashanti Region who have supported him from the beginning.

With Otumfuo’s blessing and presence promised, anticipation for the September concert is already mounting. Fans and industry watchers see this as a cultural milestone—where royalty meets rap, tradition meets modernity, and music brings together generations under one roof.
