Otumfuo invokes deity on detractors

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has invoked the Golden Stool on the head of detractors, whom, he says, have contrived several allegations against him.

He mentioned that the allegations have ranged from dealing in illicit drugs to bribing Supreme Court judges in last year’s landmark election petition.

In expressing these sentiments to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II invoked the Golden Stool and God to deal with his detractors.

The Chief Imam was at the Manhyia Palace on a courtesy call to, among other things, welcome the Asante King back from his recent trip to South Africa.

The Asantehene told the Chief Imam how strong and healthy he has been since the latter’s last visit.

He mentioned that he was in South Africa for a routine health check-up but returned to Ghana to hear rumours that he had died.

Otumfuo admitted one cannot be a leader without having such rumours and allegations flying about him or her.

“Then, you can’t do the job,” he said in Akan.

The Chief Imam prayed for long life for the Asantehene.
