The young and old are all clad in red and black, with vehicles, door posts, effigies and trees also draped in the same colours.
Domestic and business activities came to a standstill at Otuam on the second day of the late President’s three-day funeral celebrations being observed nationally.
The weather had been very cloudy all day with intermittent drizzling, which the people believe attest to the fact that, indeed a great hero had fallen.
Throughout the town, hymns and dirges blasted from giant speakers placed at vantage points, amidst weeping and wailing.
The occasional firing of musketry by the members of the Asafo Company characterized the funeral rites in the town, which had come into the limelight since the departure of the late President.
The Assemblyman of Otuam, Mr. Ebo Quansah told the GNA that fishermen in the town had since Wednesday not been to sea in respect for the late President.
Meanwhile a projector had been placed at the market square showing a documentary of the late President to engage residents as they keep vigil tonight.**
