Otoase-Owusu Akuraa launches development plan

Coaltar (E/R), Sept 11, GNA – The people of Otoase-Owusu Akuraa near Coaltar in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District have launched a two-year development plan estimated at GH¢50,000. The plan involves the construction of a day-care centre, a school and the regravelling of a four-kilometre feeder road that linked the community with Nsawam and Coaltar.

Mr. Amega Monami, an opinion leader, said the people would provide labour communally labour and make contributions of GH¢20.00 a man and GH¢10 a woman while non-resident citizens pay GH¢30. He said they were moved to put up a day-care centre because of the plight of the school children from the community who has to walk long distances to attend school at Otoase.

He said the children reach school very tired and sometime slept in class whilst teaching was in progress, stressing that the situation did not encourage teaching and learning.

Mr. Monami appealed to the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Samuel Ayeh Paye, to support their initiative in alleviating the difficulties of the people while calling on the Department of Feeder Roads to also assist them to regravel the road to help facilitate carting of farm produce to marketing centres.
