Osu Mantse performs homowo rites

Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, Osu Mantse, and other traditional leaders, on Friday performed the customary rites of “Nmaa Faa” to launch the preparation towards the annual Homowo festival of the people of Osu.

Nmaa Faa literary means uprooting and replanting of millet seedlings nursed during the one month period ban of drumming and noise making in the Ga State in readiness for the Homowo festival.

The Nmaa Faa ceremony took place at the Osu Klottey Shrine at the Osu Castle.

The replanted seedlings are expected to bear matured and dried up millets (Nmaa) to serve as food for the people during the festival in August.

In an interview with newsmen, Nii Kinka Dowuona called on the people to rally behind him to bring development to Osu, saying: “When we are one whatever our hearts desire in life will come to fruition.”

He asked the youth to be patriotic and hard working to develop Osu.

He urged them to respect the elderly so as to gain their wisdom, knowledge and experience.

Nii Kinka Dowuona advised the people to stop the petty squabbles among them and rather come together and show love to each other for Osu State to see progress.
