The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited the CEO of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, for questioning over allegations that he was offered a GH¢4 million bribe to halt the rollout of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate policy.
The OSP wants to verify Mr. Kotey’s claims and identify the individuals behind the alleged bribery attempt.
Mr. Kotey had recently disclosed in a media interview that some powerful individuals tried to influence him to abandon the digital plate initiative, which aims to reduce vehicle-related fraud and improve road safety.
The OSP stated that they are seeking further details from the DVLA boss to investigate his allegations.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the OSP has started investigating a sitting member of the Council of State over alleged corruption and corruption-related offenses linked to gold trading activities.
The probe centers on claims that the Council member used his position to influence the granting of a gold license to a company in which he has undisclosed business interests.
