Osino residents foresee disaster

Begoro (E/R), Nov 14, GNA – The chiefs and people of Osino in the Fanteakwa District have appealed to the Ministry of Science and Environment to stop gold mining at Asikam near Kibi which they claimed, was polluting the Birim River, their source of drinking water.

Making the appeal at a sanitation week at Begoro, the Chairman of Osino Town Council, Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Anne (ed. correct), said if immediate action was not taken to stop the gold mining, the health of Osino residents and its environ would be at risk.

Mr Anne appealed to the Fanteakwa District Assembly to ensure that good drinking water is provided the people of Osino while efforts are made to repair to repair the town’s water system.
