The Kokofuman Hemaa, Osagyefo Bayie is now the acting Queen Mother of the Ashanti Kingdom.
The Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II was laid to rest in the late hours of Thursday.
In the absence of an Asantehemaa, Osagyefo Bayie, will act in the stead of Queen Mother.
The Kokofuman Hemaa belongs to the Oyoko Clan who are the royals in Ashanti.
Osagyefo Bayie will act until the Asantehene nominates a successor after the burial of his mother.
In two weeks time the successor is expected to be announced.
The final funeral rites of the late Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem will be organised in a year’s time by the Asantehene and the new Queen Mother that will be enstooled.
