Orphanage calls for public support

Tutu-Akuapem, July 26, GNA – Ms Sophia Nana Asare, Founder of Trinity Home Foundation, an orphanage and women’s rehabilitation centre, has appealed to members of the public to provide the necessary support for orphanages to enable them to support vulnerable children in society. She said by providing for the needs of vulnerable children, orphanages were helping society to harness the total human resources of the country for its future development.

Ms Asare said this at Tutu, on Saturday, when Pastor John Prah, local head of the Power in the Word Deliverance Ministry, hosted the orphans of the Home to a party, to commemorate his birthday. She said apart from the 38 orphans living in the Home, teenage mothers who had dropped out of school were also being cared for until their babies were old enough for the Home to take over and for their mothers to return to school.

Ms Asare explained that out of the 50 children under its care, 38 were living in the Home while the rest were living with their family members but were being clothed, fed and provided with their school requirements including fees.

She said since the establishment of the Home a year ago, she had single-handedly funded its activities and appealed to the Akuapem North District Assembly, benevolent societies and individuals to come to the aid of the Home to enable it to reach out to many more children. Ms Asare commended the Alive Chapel in Accra for its support and the Power in the Word Deliverance Ministry for supporting them with the offerings at their morning devotion each day towards the upkeep of the orphans.

Pastor Prah said there was the need to show love and compassion for vulnerable children in the situation in which they found themselves hence the decision to celebrate his birthday with them. He noted that goals and visions set in education could not be achieved without ensuring that all children were cared for and given proper education.
