Opposition advised to mind utterances

Bibiani (W/R), June 10, GNA – Mr Ankoma Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has advised opposition parties guard against utterances that could lead to confrontation.

Speaking to newsmen at Bibiani, he deplored the recent behaviour of illegal miners in the area, which led to the destruction of facilities at the Ashanti Goldfields Bibiani Mines. Mr Sarpong alleged that certain utterances by some members of the opposition sparked off the confrontation.

He said that the NDC government would continue to pursue policies to ensure that the country continues to enjoy development, peace, unity and progress. Mr Sarpong commended the Vice President, Professor J. E. Atta Mills for his humility, selflessness and dedication to duty.

In another development, the Chairman of the Atwima-Mponua constituency of the NDC, Mr Anthony Agyabeng-Fofie, has commended the government for approving the extension of electricity to Nyinahin from the national grid.

He advised supporters of the party to remain calm and to close to ensure resounding victory in the presidential and parliamentary elections.
