Operation Disaster-Free Christmas: IGP Bans Police Leave

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has placed a freeze on all police leave for the rest of the year as the Ghana Police Service rolls out Operation Disaster-Free Christmas, a nationwide effort to boost security during the festive period.

The update was shared by Jamestown District Police Commander, Superintendent William Abisah, during a briefing on preparations for the Christmas operations.

Presenting this year’s operational plan, he noted that officers have already begun day and night patrols across various communities, as is customary each festive season.

He added that the directive halting leave for all personnel underscores the Service’s determination to fully resource its teams for the holidays.

The initiative is expected to enhance police visibility, deter criminal activity, and promote a safe environment for residents and visitors as the season approaches.
