Onuku spends VRA funds on school project

Onuku (E/R), July 26, GNA- The people of the Onuku Volta River Authority Resettlement in the Fanteakwa District in the Eastern Region, have renovated a six-classroom block, at a cost of 21 million cedis. The people have also constructed a six-seater KVIP toilet for the school at the total cost of 3.2 Million cedis. The Assemblyman for the area, Mr William Dei Agyakwa, who took newsmen to the project site on Wednesday, explained that the amount used for the project was the community’s share of the Volta River Authority (VRA) Trust Fund for last year.

He was, however, unhappy at the shoddy work done by the contractor on the KVIP and appealed to the Technical Works’ Sub-Committee of the Fanteakwa District Assembly to intervene. Mr. Agyakwa said the community was making efforts to secure another 13.5 million cedis as their share of the fund for other development projects in the town. He commended the people on their communal spirit to beat down cost of the projects.
