Only non-intellectuals think ‘gayism’ will never be an issue in Ghana – Obiri Boahen

Deputy General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken a swipe at critics of the president’s statement that Ghanaians will take a second look at issues of homosexuals in the country.

Lawyer Obiri Boahen descended on people holding such view on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Kwame Afrifa Mensah on Accra-based Happy FM.

“People who think in this direction are non-intellectuals and must not be asked to comment on issues of national interest,” he said.

He said it is only low politicking individuals who express views that Ghanaians will never take a second look at the issues of homosexuality in the country.

“Anybody who thinks that issues of ‘gayism’ will not rear its ugly head in the unforeseeable future is dreaming and lack intelligence on issues.”

He explained that even though issues of gayism may not be an issue to the ordinary man on the street because even animals do not engage in the act.

He, however, noted that the people who engage in such acts can also quote portions of the Constitution to support their arguments in the country adding that this can happen in the near future.
