One village, one dam: Akufo-Addo losing touch with reality – UFP

Flagbearer of the United Front Party (UFP) Nana Agyenim Boateng, a.k.a ‘Gyataba’, has rubbished Nana Akufo-Addo’s one village, one dam policy.

He has therefore asked the opposition leader to be more realistic in dealing with Ghanaians.

Speaking on Agyenkwa FM’s morning show, Gyataba added that the policy might create filth in the country.

“Taking the Ashanti region into consideration, if Akufo-Addo is to implement his dam policy, I wonder how the region will look like. The whole country will be swallowed up with dams,’ he said.

Akufo-Addo has promised to set up an irrigation dam in every village in the northern part of Ghana should he win the December 7 polls to become President.

Speaking to the Bolgatanga Traditional Council in the Upper East Region about his plans for Ghana’s agriculture, Akufo-Addo said: “As far as this part of our world is concerned, I want to go further and talk about one village, one dam.”

Mr Akufo-Addo said his ‘one village, one dam’ policy is to help Ghana become self-sufficient in food production and even become an exporter of food to the sub-region.

Deputy general secretary of the NDC, Mr. Koku Anyidoho had also asked Nana Akufo-Addo to wake up from his sleep and stop dreaming fake promises of providing one dam for every village in Ghana.

Speaking to the media on the promise by the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, the Deputy General Secretary said Nana Addo is still dreaming, that is why he is making so many impracticable promises.

The presidential candidate for the GCPP, Dr. Henry Lartey says Akufo-Addo’s promise to build one dam in each village of the Northern region is an avenue to breed mosquitoes.

“Does Nana Addo want to breed mosquitoes in these villages? Have they put in an infrastructure for feeder roads? Have they put in infrastructure to help farmers? What do they want to grow there? Just because you want to win an election, you are promising one village, one dam. This is not feasible. It is a hoodwink,” Dr. Lartey said.
