“One Show Before I Die”: Agya Koo Nimo Expresses Wish to Perform with Shatta Wale

In a touching cross-generational moment, 94-year-old Ghanaian highlife legend Agya Koo Nimo has expressed his admiration for Dancehall sensation Shatta Wale, revealing his heartfelt desire to perform with him before passing on.

During a phone call shared in a video by media personality Kafui Dey, Agya Koo Nimo, an icon of Ghanaian traditional music, conveyed his long-held wish. “I want to do one show before I die. I’m 94. It is my wish to always see you in person. So I’m happy I’ve had the opportunity to talk to you,” he said.

Shatta Wale, visibly moved by the call, responded with equal respect and enthusiasm. “I will make time and come and see you. This call will make me come and see you because I’ve also been thinking about you and yearning to meet you,” he said.

The interaction has sparked widespread admiration on social media, with many celebrating the mutual respect between two musical greats from vastly different eras. It also underscores the enduring power of music to bridge generational and genre divides.

Agya Koo Nimo, often regarded as the king of Palmwine music, remains a revered figure in Ghana’s cultural history. His contributions to traditional music have earned him both local and international acclaim.
