One person shot dead and two others injured in Bawku

One person was Friday night shot dead and two others injured at Sagabo in Bawku in the Upper East Region.

28-year-old Hasmin Yakubu was said to be chatting with his girl-friend when the assailant walked in to question why the two were together at that time of the night. The suspect dressed in black attire, reportedly shot Hashmin and two others in the house.

It is unclear what may have caused the shooting but Bawku Divisional Police Commander Chief Superintendent Ebenezer Kwaku Asare told Joy News, the incident was an isolated case.

“It is only investigation that can reveal the cause of the action,” the Police Chief said. According to him, the area had been relatively peaceful until the Friday incident.

“I want to believe it is not part of the Bawku conflict but may be a personal issue with the assailant,” Supt. Kwaku Asare told Joy News’ Beatrice Adu.

He, however, said security patrols have been intensified in the area to arrest the suspect who is on the run.
