One person dies as DCE vehicle involves in accident

Wa, Dec. 11, GNA – Fuseini Yahaya, a 49-year-old driver mechanic in Wa, died through an accident involving the official vehicle of the Sissala West District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Robert Bakah Wavei. He died when he went to test the car after he had finished maintenance work on it.

The accident, which occurred on the Wa/Charia road on Tuesday, also involved Mr. Abraham Luri, the official driver of the DCE including two other unidentified colleagues.

Fuseini Yahaya died when he was being taken to the hospital while Mr. Abraham Luri was treated and discharged from the Regional Hospital at Wa. Their two colleagues who were in their company were reported not to have sustained any injury.

Deputy Superintendent of Police John Ferguson Dzineku, the Upper West Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit, said the police suspected over speeding to be the cause of the accident. He said they also suspected that the deceased was not wearing seat belt at the time of the accident. 11 Dec 09
