One-month old abandoned baby sent to Tema General Hospital

Tema, July 04, GNA — A one-month old baby boy, who was abandoned on a table near the Ashaiman Market last Saturday, has been sent to the Tema General Hospital (TGH) by the Police for care and treatment. According to the Tema Regional Co-ordinator of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DVVSU), Assistant Superintendent of Police, Rebecca Nyamah, one Mercy Tetteh, 39, brought the baby to the Ashaiman branch of DVVSU on Saturday at 8.40pm, and reported that he was wrapped in a piece of cloth on a table near the market. She said a search has been mounted for the baby’s mother whiles the Department of Social Welfare has also been notified on the issue. When contacted the Deputy Director of Nursing Services of TGH, Mrs Emily Barnes, said the baby was in good condition of health. 04 July 06
