One killed in road crash at Nyinahin

One person was killed and seven others suffered various degrees of injuries when a truck loaded with timber boards on which they were travelling was involved in an accident near Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District.

The deceased was identified as Christopher Oduro, 22.

The injured, Abdulai Abubakar, Justice Aboagye, Kwabena Frimpong, Kwaku Amoako, Kwabena Asare and Eric Arthur, were rushed to the Nyinahin District Hospital for treatment.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Fredrick Mensah, District Commander, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) and said it happened at about 1230 hours on Thursday.

The driver of the truck, Samuel Wunia, reportedly lost control of the truck after it developed a mechanical fault, and in the process, fell on its side into a ditch, trapping the passengers under the boards.

The lifeless body of Oduro was pulled from under the pile of boards and had been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.
