One dead, 20 injured in accident on Winneba-Accra road

Winneba (C/R) May 29, GNA-One person died instantly while 20 others sustained various degrees of injuries when a Motor Bicycle crushed into a 207 Nissan bus conveying football Fans from Cape Coast to Kasoa at Gomoa Mpota, on Friday. According to the Winneba Police, the Motor Bicycle which was from the opposite direction to the bus caught fire after a head-on collision with bus, killing Mr. Seth Obeng, the rider on the spot.

According to the Police, the driver of the 207 bus, Moses Nim Elijah was among those receiving treatment at the Winneba Government hospital. The police mentioned Evans Fosu, Suman Quansah, David Akampari, Joseph Mensah, Stanly Lamptey, George Ababia, Sadic Adams, Adam Kasem, Sami Kasem, Douglas Antwi and Daniel Sam, all from Kasoa, as some of the injured. Mr. Obengs’s body has been deposited at the Winneba Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy while police investigation continues. Meanwhile, the police have expressed concern on the increasing number accidents on the Apam-Winneba-Accra road lately and have therefore advised drivers plying on the road to be extra careful. According to the police, last week, five people died on the spot and 22 others got injured in two separate accidents that occurred at Gomoa Bewadze and Dominase. 29 May 10
